THE FRONT LOUNGE

That was a part of the “Doxato” room as it was called the specious big lounge occupying the whole of the front part of the second floor, which was used for the festive days of the family in the summer.

In the middle of the room there was the only balcony of the mansion, which was found broken down.
This balcony was restored, came back to what as it was, and wore its authentic iron rail found somewhere at the site. As you step on that balcony, the feeling you have is that you are ready to fly!...

Don’t forget to look up on the ceiling of the lounge.
The plaster rosette was found half ruined and under a special process came back to be restored by specialists. A job which shows the hard work and the respect to save every piece of quality and authenticity.

The “big piece of art” on the wall, embroidered stitch by stitch even on the background, is a work of Indian women, and it’s considered to be a rare piece of Pandora’s decoration. It’s very interesting to study the individual parts of the embroidery and realize how the traditional features look similar in all cultures.

The hand woven carpet of the room, called “kilimi” comes as a piece of the dowry of a bride in a Greek village.

Look at the small piece of furniture in the corner of the room, made of olive wood. It has come from the house were the owner Maria was born and it’ s more than hundred years old.

… And on the round table, with the hand embroidered table-cloth, the putter central piece derives from last century.

There is a possibility for the two front rooms (Argo – Cleo) to use the front lounge as a suite separate from the rest floor, due to the in between wooden partition.

This feature, stayed as it was with the double door and the two windows on the side. The difference is that the colored glasses at the top of the partition have been replaced by new real vitraux.
All the windows and the glass doors are covered by embroidered little curtains, in line with practices of the past. They bring memories of prestige and class, back in 1859.
